In Australia and New Zealand, about 10 per cent of the population identifies as vegetarian or vegan, but a growing number of people are choosing to reduce their meat intake without fully committing to a plant-only diet. This shift towards eating less meat is gaining more traction than ever before.
A plant-based diet can offer many health benefits and has shown to be beneficial for improving heart health, supporting healthy weight management and lowering the risk of type 2 diabetes. Rich in fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, plant-based foods like fruits, vegies, whole grains and legumes support better digestion and can help to reduce inflammation. Plant-based foods also contain an abundance of nutrients, which can improve both mental and physical health.
Look for products that have
- Natural whole-food ingredients
- Minimal additives and preservatives
- Reduced salt or no added salt
- A high fibre content and are low in saturated fat

- Look for products containing at least 100mg of calcium per 100ml/g
